The Ultra V Series® is a self-priming centrifugal pump from Gorman-Rupp, specifically engineered for high-head applications where traditional self-priming trash pumps fall short. Built upon the foundation of the Super T Series®, the Ultra V Series® delivers up to three times the pressure and up to 60% more flow. The pump is used for sewage, industrial wastewater, sludge, construction dewatering, mining, and demanding process fluids in industries such as steel, paper, food processing, and power generation.
The Ultra V Series® is available in discharge sizes of 3″ (75 mm), 4″ (100 mm), and 6″ (150 mm). Maximum flow reaches 1,904 GPM (432 m³/h) on the V6A model, with a maximum head of 156′ (48 m) for the standard Ultra V Series®. With the VS Series (including the UltraMate® system), head capability increases to 325′ (99 m). Refer to the pump curves for the exact duty point per model.
The Ultra V Series® features a two-vane, semi-open solids-handling impeller that handles spherical solids up to 3″ (76 mm) in diameter, depending on pump model. The 3″ A-version models handle solids up to 2.5″ (64 mm). Pump-out vanes on the impeller shroud reduce foreign material buildup behind the impeller and lower pressure on the seal and bearings.
The Ultra V Series® (V3, V4, V6 models) is designed for high-head applications with maximum head up to 160′ (49 m). The VS Series (VS3, VS4, VS6 models) pairs the Ultra V Series® with the patented UltraMate® system, increasing maximum head to 325′ (99 m). The rotating assembly of the VS Series is interchangeable with the Ultra V Series®, simplifying spare parts management.
The patented UltraMate® system connects directly to an Ultra V Series® pump through an innovative transition chamber. This increases maximum pressure up to three times that of traditional single-stage, solids-handling, self-priming pumps. Losses associated with conventional series-connected pumps are reduced, resulting in increased efficiencies. The UltraMate® system features the patented Smart Scroll® discharge locator, which can be rotated to vertical or horizontal (left or right) positions to fit specific piping configurations.
The Eradicator® Solids Management System is available for all Ultra V Series® and VS Series pumps. The system features an aggressive self-cleaning wearplate incorporating notches, grooves, and a revolutionary tooth that helps break up stringy materials such as wipes, rags, and feathers, passing them through the pump without impacting performance. A patented lightweight inspection cover provides quick impeller access. The system can be factory-equipped in new pumps or purchased as a retrofit kit that is interchangeable with Ultra V Series® pumps currently in the field.
The external shimless coverplate allows easy adjustment of the clearance between the impeller and wearplate without the need to realign belts, couplings, or other drive components. The working height of the seal assembly and impeller back clearance are not disturbed. A unique collar and adjusting screw allow for incremental wearplate clearance adjustments. Once adjustments are made, the collar locks in place and maintains the clearance setting even if the coverplate is removed. This design feature doubles the life of the impeller and wearplate while maintaining peak operating efficiency.
The removable inspection cover with easy-grip handle provides access to the impeller without disturbing the impeller-to-wearplate clearance. If a clog occurs, simply remove four nuts with common hand tools for quick access to the obstruction. After debris removal, the pump can be returned to operation immediately without resetting clearances, minimising downtime and reducing maintenance costs.
The Ultra V Series® features an exclusive double-floating, self-aligning, oil-lubricated mechanical cartridge seal with stationary and rotating faces of silicon carbide or tungsten titanium carbide. This seal is specifically designed for abrasive and trash handling service. An oversized seal oil chamber with sight gauge is standard. Additional seal configurations are available on request.
Yes. All Ultra V Series® models come standard with a positive sealing, externally removable suction check valve. Inspection or replacement can be performed without disconnecting any piping. The check valve includes a blowout centre that limits excessive volute pressure, protecting the pump.
Yes. The seal and wearplate are accessible through the shimless coverplate opening for inspection or service. If a clog occurs, the lightweight inspection cover provides quick access to the impeller without resetting the wearplate-to-impeller clearance. The entire rotating assembly can be removed without disturbing the pump volute or piping; pusher bolt holes assist with removal. This allows for quick installation of a spare rotating assembly, resulting in maximum uptime.
The Ultra V Series® can be purchased as a basic unit or configured as a sound-attenuated, engine-driven back-up system (ReliaPrime®). All models can also be incorporated into a ReliaSource® packaged pumping station that is engineered, assembled, tested, and shipped ready for installation. Optional accessories (all explicitly optional) include: automatic air release valve, discharge check valve, suction and discharge flange kits, volute casing heater, gauge kits, complete replacement rotating assembly, spare parts kit, custom seal options, and alternative elastomers and suction flap valve materials (EPDM, Neoprene, AFLASTFE, Viton®).

Yes. Thanks to its self-priming design, the Ultra V Series® can be installed above ground in dry-installed pump stations. This simplifies maintenance, inspection, and monitoring, and eliminates the need for personnel to enter confined spaces. The Ultra V Series® can also be incorporated into a ReliaSource® modular self-cleaning sump system, pre-assembled and factory-tested for easy on-site installation.
